CCCU’s History

Beginning with 25 employees of Clark County government, the founding members secured a state charter and officially began doing business as Clark County Credit Union in January 1951. The first 'branch office' was a small wooden table, chair and a cashbox located just outside the evidence vault in the county building in downtown Las Vegas. The branch opened at noon on Fridays and closed at end of day, whereupon all the furniture and records were locked up again until the following week.

Since our modest beginnings, the credit union has grown immensely

Branches have opened and closed in different locations from time to time in order to better serve our members. Locations have included Commercial Center on East Sahara Avenue, 1st Street downtown, Credit Union Plaza on West Sahara, Flamingo Road, and the current locations in downtown Henderson, Green Valley, Las Vegas, West Sunset, North Las Vegas and the Northwest Vegas valley.

Currently, more than 50,000 member/owners do business with CCCU electronically and at the six branch offices spread out across Clark County. Many families can now boast of four generations of members with active, open accounts.

CCCU’s assets have grown to over $1 billion and the credit union offers every service and product available at any bank in the market.

The original charter has also expanded to include membership opportunities for employees of local municipal governments and all medical related businesses. Other groups, known as Select Employer Groups (SEGs), also include small and larger businesses of various types including TIMET, Pepsi Bottlers, Shuffle Master, Levi Strauss, Zappos.com, Good Humor Breyer and KNPR radio.

CCCU is proud to be a prominent and secure not-for-profit financial resource for individuals and families who live in all 50 states and various foreign countries. The staff, management and Board of Directors invite you to apply for membership for you, your family members and your co-workers. Working together, we continue to grow and help you write your own financial history and meet your financial goals and dreams.
