Audit Committee Volunteer Changes
There have been recent changes among the volunteers who comprise the CCCU Audit Committee. We'd like to take a moment to recognize two wonderful individuals who have left the Committee, as well as introduce a new face who recently joined.
It is with regret that we say goodbye to two well-known volunteers. These gentlemen gave generously of their time to represent the members' interests in our cooperative financial institution.
Earl Hawkes, 2000 - 2009
A member of the credit union since 1979, Earl began volunteering for the Audit Committee in June of 2000 while employed by Clark County as the Director of General Services. After retiring from the County in 2001, he continued to donate his time to ensure the well being of CCCU.
"It was marvelous to find out how the credit union worked. I wish every member could have this kind of knowledge about the credit union. I have been a part of it for so long, I wanted to give someone else the chance to have this experience."
Though he's retiring from the Audit Committee, Earl plans on keeping busy with his consulting work, grandkids and traveling with his wife. "This is such a fantastic organization. The credit union is in great hands - Wayne is a dynamic CEO with a great staff behind him."
Richard Derrick, 2004 - 2009
Richard's position as Budget Manager for the City of Henderson was the perfect fit for the Audit Committee's needs when Richard began volunteering for CCCU in 2004. His contributions over the past five years have been greatly valued, and his input and caring nature will be missed.
"I truly enjoyed my time, and I learned a lot." Richard states. But he is needed elsewhere at this time and will be devoting more time to his family. "I had a wonderful time serving. CCCU is a well-run organization and I have extreme confidence in the leadership there. I will continue to be a happy member for a long time to come."
We would like to welcome Marc Joseph, to the Audit Committee. Marc has been a member since 1997 and is a 22-year veteran of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He was recently appointed as Deputy chief of Human Resources. In this position he is responsible for Personnel/Recruiting, Training, and Labor Relations. Before this assignment, he was a Patrol Division Deputy Chief responsible for approximately 800 patrol officers.
Other past experience includes work for Professional Standards (Internal Affairs/Quality Assurance), Special Operations, the Office of Public Information, Training, and Patrol. He has participated in volunteer work in the past for a United Way funded organization. He was a member of the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition's (SNRPC) Committee on Homelessness and just completed a term as a member of the SNRPC Committee on Youth.
What is the Audit Committee?
The CCCU Audit Committee is comprised of three to five volunteers who are responsible for the financial and operational well being of the credit union. They are in charge of selecting the outside firm that audits the credit union financial statements on an annual basis, and have the authority to remove the Board of Directors if they are not acting in the best interest of the members.
